Japan’s Minister for Science and Technology, Onoda Kimi, on Thursday met Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh in New Delhi to boost India-Japan collaboration in healthcare, medical devices and advanced technologies.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of health and medical devices, aimed at promoting joint research, innovation and industrial partnerships in the healthcare sector. The discussions also focused on strengthening collaboration in emerging technologies, including Quantum Science and Technology.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Singh said India and Japan share a strong partnership in science and technology and can together accelerate innovation for societal benefit. He highlighted India’s growing focus on deep-tech sectors such as Quantum Technologies, Cyber-Physical Systems, Electric Mobility, Clean Energy and Advanced Computing, creating opportunities for collaborative healthcare innovation and medical research.

Ms Kimi praised India’s rapid economic growth and the expanding use of artificial intelligence across sectors, including healthcare. She expressed confidence that the agreements signed during the meeting would deepen cooperation in research, application and industrial deployment.

The Ministry of Science and Technology said both countries agreed to enhance researcher-level collaboration, institutional partnerships and industry linkages to further strengthen India-Japan cooperation in science, health and innovation.
