To mark World Hepatitis Day on July 28, state’s super multi specialty hospital Utkal Hospital celebrated the day on 27th July in the hospital premises. The chosen day happens to be the birthday of Dr Baruch Blumberg who is known for the discovery of the Hepatitis B virus and its vaccine.
This day marks global awareness towards this disease and compels the world to take preventive measures.
Also, this day encourages communities all over the world to come forward and take action to stop the spread and deaths due to this disease.
On this occasion, Utkal hospital organized various events such as Quiz competition, Role play competition and felicitated the winners.
Former Prof and Head department of Gastroenterology, SCB Medical College Dr S. P. Singh graced the event as chief guest.
Prof Dr C. R. Panda attended the event as guest of honor.
Other delegates including senior gastroenterologists Dr. Bijay Misra, Dr. Ananta Kumar Agasti, Senior Consultant HPB & GI Surgery Dr. Satyaprakash Ray Choudhury, COO of Utkal Hospital Manav Bhuker, Director of medical services Dr Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, Dean and Director (academics) Dr Prafulla Kumar Das, Director of neurosurgery Dr Siddhartha Shankar Sahoo, Director of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery Dr. Chandrabhanu Parija and general manager Shaikh Sikandar were also present at the event.
