Utkal Hospital, in partnership with AIG Hospital Hyderabad, achieved a groundbreaking milestone by conducting the first-ever cadaveric liver transplant in Odisha. The historic surgery, which took place on 17th April 24 , represented a significant leap forward in the state’s medical landscape, bringing advanced liver transplant procedures within reach for patients in the region.
The patient, Sarat Pradhan, a 41-year-old from Sonepur who was suffering from Liver Cirrhosis, underwent the transplant, marking a significant milestone in his medical journey towards recovery.
Led by a team of highly skilled medical professionals, the surgery was performed by Dr. Satya Prakash Ray Choudhury and Dr. Salil Parida, Senior Consultants in HPB ,GI and Liver Transplant Surgery at Utkal Hospital, along with Dr. P. Balachandran Menon, Director of Liver Transplant Surgery at AIG Hospital Hyderabad, and other members of the medical team.
