State’s premier super multispecialty hospital, Utkal Hospital organized several awareness programs on the occasion of World Cancer Day, including a 5 km marathon to create awareness about Cancer prevention and early detection. The event saw enthusiastic participation of 250 runners who joined hands in the fight against Cancer.
Famous Ollywood actress Anu Choudhury graced the event and emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and a healthy lifestyle to prevent Cancer. She flagged off the mini marathon.
Speaking on this occasion, head of oncology department and director of medical services Dr Ranjan Kumar Mahapatra, senior consultants of medical oncology Dr Chinmay Kumar Pani, Dr Sushant Kumar Paikaray, Dr Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, directors of radiation oncology Dr Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Dr Sanjeev Kumar Mishra, senior consultant of radiation oncology Dr Shaikh Ifttikhar Ali, senior surgical oncologists Dr Satyabrat Dash, Dr Pradyumna Kumar Sahoo and clinical and radiation oncologists Dr Arya Kumar Banidutta said that raising cancer awareness is important and initiatives like this help educate the community about diagnosis, screening and treatment options. “We are committed to support cancer patients and promote a healthy society”.
The event was graced by doctors, healthcare professionals, cancer survivors and local residents. Winners in the male and female categories were felicitated. On this occasion specialist doctors from Utkal hospital joined in a facebook live in the afternoon.
