Odisha’s one of the most prominent super multispecialty hospital Utkal Hospital has achieved another milestone in the field of nephrology. First cadaveric kidney transplant is successfully completed of a woman.
Notably, the woman aged 36 was suffering from a dangerous kidney disease and was undergoing dialysis in the hospital under the supervision of Dr Lalat Barun Patra. Doctor has suggested the patient’s family for an immediate kidney transplant. As the patient did not get any suitable donor for the transplant, doctors decided to perform cadaveric kidney transplant in which a team a senior doctors was formed. The team included senior consultant Dr Kaliprasad Mishra, Dr Lalat Barun Patra, Dr Pabitra Kumar Mishra, anesthetist Dr. R.B. Raju and Dr.Jitamitra Mishra.

The operation was hard 10 hours which was successfully completed by the team’s hard work. the receiver has been discharged from the hospital after 14 days and is currently in a healthy condition.
