Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi on Friday to address ‘One World TB Summit’. He will also dedicate and lay foundation stones for various projects worth over Rs 1,780 crore, said a Prime Minister’s Office press release.
To mark World Tuberculosis Day, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Stop TB Partnership are organising the summit where international delegates from over 30 countries are scheduled to be present. Founded in 2001, the Stop TB Partnership is a United Nations-hosted organisation that amplifies the voices of the people, communities and countries affected by TB.
During the event, the PM will launch various initiatives, including TB-Mukt Panchayat initiative; official pan-India rollout of a shorter TB Preventive Treatment (TPT); family-centric care model for TB and the release of India’s Annual TB Report 2023.
