Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik introduced the BSKY Nabin Card to the people of the state on Wednesday, March 6. This benefit will be provided to all village residents, with the exception of income taxpayers and regular government workers. The holders of this card will begin receiving benefits from May, as the card distribution began on Wednesday. The state government’s 5T department is putting the plan into action.
Speaking on this occasion, the Chief Minister said, “All the 4.5 crore people of Odisha are my family. I have always been and always will be in your happiness and sorrow. Your happiness is my happiness.”
“I have always worked and will continue to work for the well-being of my family members,” the Chief Minister stated, citing the strong correlation between health and prosperity in a society.
Notably, under the Biju Swastya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), over one crore families, or 80% of the state’s population, receive cashless medical benefits, with benefits for women up to Rs. 10 lakh and for other family members up to Rs. 5 lakh. Every month, 130,000 members of this programme receive care at 816 accredited private hospitals. The state government is allocating more than Rs 270 crore of its budget for this.
State Health and Family Welfare Minister Niranjan Pujari stated that the scheme is Odisha Chief Minister’s historic decision to adopt BSKY under the 5T plan. All of the rural areas’ impoverished beneficiaries are now taken care of. The Chief Minister’s vision for Odisha’s growth and the notion of helping people is known as 5T. People’s faith in the 5T Mantra is growing these days. He remarked that the state’s citizens receiving better healthcare is of the highest priority to the Chief Minister.
According to VK Pandian, Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha, the Chief Minister wants to protect everyone’s health in the state. In this regard, practically every urban resident will receive a BSKY Nabin card in the upcoming phase. He expressed gratitude to the Department of Information Technology and the Department of Health and Family Welfare for quickly putting the plan into action.
Notably, many impoverished rural residents asked the 5T Chairman to include them in this programme during his district visits. After learning of the people’s desire, the Chief Minister made the decision to introduce the card, motivated by the principles that every life is valuable.
Among others, Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister for Empowerment of Disabled in Bhubaneswar block; Kumudini Naik, District Council President, Sambalpur Bamda block; Kishore Chandra Naik, MLA, Kuchinda; Rohit Pujari, MLA, Rairakhol; Shwetsnigdha Mishra, Coordinator of ‘Am Odisha, Naveen Odisha’ in Tangi block in Khurda district; Bolgarh MLA Rajendra Kumar Sahu; Khurda District Council President Rup Shri Rani Guman Singh attended the programme.
Shalini Pandit, Commissioner and Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, delivered the welcome address, and a vote of thanks was proposed by the CEO of BSKY Society.
