It is quite normal for a woman to experience cramps during her period days, at least once. Period pain is like a very spontaneous thing, you get your period, then you get the pain instantly. But have you ever thought about the reason? Why do you get period pain or why is it always painful for you to have those days?
In a conversation with Dr Monika Gupta, we got to know about the exact causes of those days cramps.
Pain happens when your womb tightens during menstruation. It’s often a normal part of the menstrual cycle.
Sometimes painful periods can be caused by a condition such as:
- womb tissue growing in other places (endometriosis and adenomyosis)
- growths in and around the womb (fibroids)
- an infection of the womb, fallopian tubes and ovaries (pelvic inflammatory disease)
Using a heating pad or soaking in a warm bath are great ways to ease pain, but you can also use heating patches if you’re looking for a discrete, on-the-go way to get relief.
Since cramps are painful, it’s probably fairly obvious that pain relievers make the list of remedies.
When you’re in pain, you may think it’s best just to relax and get some rest. But physical activity is actually a natural pain reliever. Plus, exercise is also a great way to reduce stress — which also happens to affect how you feel pain.
