Heel pain
Heel pain is a common foot issue associated with pain in the foot area.
It could have many causes like-
Symptoms
- Pain under the foot, towards the front of the heel.
- The pain is moderate in the beginning but, gradually becomes severe.
- Pain may be even more severe, however, if there is a tear.
Cause
- Pain after waking up
- Sitting for a longer duration and experience pain while getting up.
- Plantar fascia- It is the most common reason for heel pain. Plantar fascia maintains the arch of leg and in some cases it gets
torn and gradually causes pain called plantar fasciitis. - Trauma
- Injury
- Obesity
- Extra bone growth
- Flat foot- People with flat foot doesn’t have a visible arch in the foot. It can cause pain and sometimes it may affect walking also.
- Reactive arthritis
- Bone tumor
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Stress fractures
- Tarsal tunnel syndrome
- Poor posture while walking
- Improper running posture
- Soft tissue mass
- Bruise in the bone
- Having stiff calf muscles.
- Excessive running
- Working in standing position for long hours.
Prevention
- Warm up before any outdoor sports activity.
- Proper fit shoes
- After standing for long time, give some rest to your feet
- A proportionate body weight
- Wearing shoes on hard ground
- Wearing supportive shoes
