Body lice

They are small sesame-sized tiny insects. They spread through either physical contact or articles like bed sheets and towels etc. clothes. They are known to transmit diseases. They cause severe itching and bite marks.

  • Waist
  • Groin
  • Armpits
  • Shoulders
  • Neck

Difference between head lice and body lice

Head lice are the more common ones, found in your head. They don’t affect your body. They lay their nits on the head only. Both of them look similar but, body lice don’t affect the head area and lay nits on clothing, etc.

How do you know that you have lice?

There are some symptoms that can confirm that you have body lice.

  • The bite marks(mostly red, purple, or brown color).
  • Severe itching on the site of the bite.
  • Tickling feeling on the skin.
  • Sores
  • Infections
  • Skin rash

Treatment

1. Regularly bathing with soap.

2. Washing clothes properly in warm water with detergent.

3. Iron your clothes to kill nits and lice.

4. Vacuum your mattresses, furniture, and carpets regularly.

5. Anti-parasite lotions, powder, soap, and shampoo.

6. Oral antiparasite medications

7. Aloe vera gel soothes itching and pain at the site.

8. Ice can reduce inflammation and pain.
