World Stroke Day 2023 was marked by AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar, with the theme “Together We Can Be #GreaterThan Stroke.” The purpose of this campaign was to raise awareness about stroke, with a focus on treatment, prevention, and the necessity of acting quickly if one occurs. Stroke awareness and prevention are important causes, and AMRI Hospitals BBSR regularly hosts a variety of events and campaigns to educate the public. This is a great effort in support of a worthy cause.
Every year, the world observes World Stroke Day with the goal of increasing awareness of stroke, its treatment, prevention, and provision of support to stroke victims and their families. The main goal of World Stroke Day is to raise awareness of the causes and effects of strokes and to encourage healthy lifestyle choices that can lower one’s chance of having one.
Together with nursing and administrative personnel, a renowned group of neurologists graced the occasion, including Medical Superintendent, Sidharths Mishra, and Unit HR Head, Rajshree Upadhya. Locals from the neighbourhood also attended the event, coming together to lend their support to this vital cause.
The neurologists from AMRI’s Bhubaneswar team gave educational talks on stroke awareness and prevention. Senior Consultant Neurologist Dr. L. D. Padhi highlighted the impact of stress in today’s fast-paced living and stressed the need of keeping a healthy lifestyle in minimising stroke risk. Like other organs, the brain needs blood to feed it with nutrients and oxygen on a constant basis in order for it to operate properly. Any disruption in this blood flow may cause harm and damage to brain cells.
Another Senior Consultant Neurologist, Dr. Pradyut Ranjan Bhuyan, emphasised that a stroke is a medical emergency. It is crucial that someone get emergency help if they think they may be having a stroke. It is not advisable to try driving oneself to the hospital. Emergency medical personnel will act quickly since they understand that every minute counts in situations of stroke.
Consultant neurologist Dr. Aakash Agarwal explained the symptoms of strokes, how to spot them, and why it’s critical to get treatment as soon as possible to prevent death. Patients were advised to come to the hospital within the optimal window of 4.5 hours or, if possible, sooner.
The medical superintendent, Dr. Sidhartha Mishra, used the occasion to educate the public about the AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar Stroke Unit and to emphasise the idea that “Together We Can Be #GreaterThan Stroke.”
Unit HR Head, Rajshree Upadhaya, concluded by thanking everyone and urging them to use the inspiration and information they had received from the event to their everyday life. She emphasised the significance of cooperating to create a future in which strokes are better identified, avoided, and treated.
