Breastfeeding week:
Starting from tomorrow (August 1) a National Breastfeeding Week organized by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) will bring together all levels of society to help support working mothers to breastfeed their infants for optimum health benefits.
Breastmilk provides all the energy and nutrients that the infant needs for the first months of life, and it continues to provide up to half or more of a child’s nutritional needs during the second half of the first year, and up to one third during the second year of life.
Breastfeeding lowers your baby’s risk of certain diseases and helps build a strong immune system.
Breast milk contains everything your baby needs to grow and develop. It provides a unique and specific formula of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Breastfeeding is also a special and unique way to feel connected to your baby. It increases both physical and emotional bonding.
Breastfeeding offers several benefits for you, too. It lowers your risk for several diseases and conditions, like:
- Breast Cancer.
- Ovarian Cancer.
- Endometrial cancer.
There are many medical, physical and emotional benefits to breastfeeding. Plus, it gives your baby all the nutrients, vitamins and antibodies they need to build a strong immune system.
