Berhampur: Ahead of World Heart Day (29th September), Utkal Hospital, Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with the students of MKCG Medical College & Hospital (MCH), Berhampur, organized a Walkathon on Thursday with the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat.”

The event witnessed the participation of over 200 students, doctors, and faculty members. The Walkathon was flagged off by Utkal Hospital CEO B.K. Subodh Singh, Senior Consultant (Cardiology) Dr. Sushant Pradhan, Senior Consultant (CTVS) Dr. Chandravanu Parija, Prof. Dr. J. Sagar Prusty, and Associate Prof. Dr. Sarada Prasanna Sahoo of MKCG MCH.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Singh stressed the importance of preventive heart care, highlighting how regular physical activity can significantly improve cardiovascular health. He noted that Utkal Hospital is strengthening its heart care services with advanced technologies and a specialized team of experts to ensure better outcomes for patients.

Dr. Pradhan and Dr. Parija echoed the urgent need for lifestyle modifications to combat the growing incidence of heart disease in India. They emphasized that preventive care, including healthy diet, exercise, and timely health check-ups, is key to reducing risks.

The initiative not only marked World Heart Day but also reinforced Utkal Hospital’s commitment to raising community awareness and promoting healthier lifestyles.
