Bhubaneswar, July 1, 2025 — In a heartfelt tribute to the selfless service and unwavering dedication of the medical fraternity, Utkal Hospital, a premier multi-speciality healthcare institution in Bhubaneswar’s Niladri Vihar, observed National Doctors’ Day with a special 3-km walkathon in collaboration with Rotary Club of Niladri.

The walkathon, flagged off from Utkal Hospital, passed through Care Hospital Square and returned to its starting point. It saw enthusiastic participation from doctors, nurses, hospital staff, Rotarians, and citizens, all united in a symbolic gesture of gratitude for doctors who continue to be pillars of hope and healing in society.

“This walkathon is not just a physical journey—it is an expression of our deep respect and gratitude towards the doctors who serve humanity with tireless commitment,” said Mr. B.K. Subodh Singh, CEO of Utkal Hospital. “Doctors are more than healers; they are beacons of hope, especially in times of crisis.”

Celebrated across India on July 1 to mark the birth and death anniversary of the legendary physician and former West Bengal Chief Minister Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, National Doctors’ Day offers an opportunity to reflect on the invaluable contributions of doctors to public health and well-being.

Placards, banners, and slogans displayed during the walkathon resonated with messages of appreciation and respect for medical professionals. The atmosphere was both festive and reverent.

The event was graced by renowned Odia film actress Anu Choudhury, alongside leading doctors from Utkal Hospital including Dr. Sanjay Mishra (Senior Consultant, Radiation Oncology), Dr. Ananta Kumar Agasti (Chief Consultant, Gastroenterology & Hepatology), and others who shared their thoughts on the evolving role of doctors in modern healthcare.

Joining virtually from the United States, Chairman of Utkal Hospital, Dr. Aditya Kumar Samal, extended his heartfelt greetings and gratitude to the doctors on this special occasion.

Managing Director Dr. Pragyan Ranjan Gharai, in his message, remarked, “Doctors are the earthly embodiment of divine service. On this day, we salute every doctor for their selfless pursuit of healing.”

The Board of Directors of Utkal Hospital also congratulated the entire medical fraternity for their service. The program concluded with felicitation of all participating doctors and contributors to the event.

Present at the event were also Rotary Club Bhubaneswar Niladri President Shri Surjit Kumar Raut and Secretary Shri Rakesh Dalai, who applauded the hospital’s commitment to community wellness.

Together, Utkal Hospital and the community reaffirmed their vision — to build a healthier, more aware, and resilient society.
