The highly anticipated Health Conclave 2025, organized by Kanak News and Swasthya Sambad, continued with its impactful discussions aimed at raising awareness about pressing health concerns. In the second panel discussion of the event, Dr. Swetanka Das and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Jangid took center stage to discuss the alarming effects of diabetes and high blood pressure on heart health.

Dr. Swetanka Das began the session by explaining how both diabetes and high blood pressure are among the leading causes of cardiovascular diseases. She emphasized that while each of these conditions poses a threat to heart health individually, their combined impact can be far more damaging. “Both diabetes and high blood pressure silently strain the heart and blood vessels, leading to conditions such as heart disease, stroke, and heart failure,” Dr. Das noted. She further highlighted how high blood sugar levels in diabetes contribute to the stiffening of blood vessels, while high blood pressure accelerates the process of atherosclerosis (narrowing of arteries), thus putting enormous pressure on the heart.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Jangid expanded on this by discussing the role of lifestyle factors such as diet, stress, and lack of physical activity in exacerbating these conditions. He stressed the importance of managing blood sugar and blood pressure through regular monitoring, medications, and adopting heart-healthy habits. According to Dr. Jangid, even small lifestyle changes like reducing salt intake, staying physically active, and quitting smoking can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease.

The session concluded with both doctors urging attendees to take charge of their health by maintaining regular check-ups and following a balanced, healthy lifestyle. The insightful discussion left the audience with a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of diabetes, blood pressure, and heart health, stressing that prevention is always better than cure.
