Philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has praised India’s significant role in global health and agriculture, highlighting the country’s growing influence in these fields.
Bill Gates considered the historical collaboration between the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and India in a LinkedIn post.
“Over the past two decades, the foundation has worked alongside the Indian government, researchers, and entrepreneurs to drive progress in healthcare, agriculture, and digital transformation,” he stated.
Recalling his visit in 2011, when India recorded its final polio case, he praised India’s achievements in public health, especially in the fight against polio.
Additionally, Bill Gates emphasized India’s leadership in the fight against tuberculosis (TB), pointing to the nation’s investments in cutting-edge treatment methods, AI-powered detection, and new diagnostic tools.
“A breakthrough saliva-based TB test, costing under $2, is one example of how India is advancing global health,” he mentioned.
Bill Gates highlighted how AI solutions that assist in crop selection, weather pattern prediction, and risk reduction are helping India revolutionize agriculture.
He commended India for its innovations, which not only help its people but also advance the world.
Bill Gates also commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts to showcase India’s innovations to the globe during the G20 Presidency.
He emphasized India’s achievements in digital technology, especially the creation of digital public infrastructure like Aadhaar and digital payments, in addition to healthcare and agriculture.
“These innovations have improved access to essential services such as banking, healthcare, and government services,” he continued.
Microsoft co-founder added: “AI-powered tools now support rural health workers in disease detection, pregnancy care, and patient data management.”
