Bhubaneswar, July 15, 2025 — Marking a significant step in diabetes care in eastern India, the Apollo Hospitals Group inaugurated its first Apollo Sugar Clinic in Odisha today, located in Raghunathpur, Bhubaneswar. The state-of-the-art clinic is set to offer specialized, comprehensive care for diabetes and related metabolic disorders.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by renowned cardiologist Dr. Byomkesh Dikshit as the Chief Guest, alongside Dr. Somnath Ray Choudhary, former head of ICAR Bhubaneswar, who also attended as a distinguished guest. The event highlighted the growing need for structured diabetes management facilities in the region, given the rising prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases.

The newly opened clinic will be led by Dr. Surajeet Kumar Patra, a seasoned healthcare professional and the appointed Director of Apollo Sugar Clinic, Bhubaneswar. Under his leadership, the clinic aims to provide evidence-based, patient-centric diabetes care, including diagnostics, lifestyle counseling, and personalized treatment plans.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Patra said, “With Odisha witnessing a steady increase in diabetes cases, the need for a dedicated, holistic approach to diabetes care is more pressing than ever. Apollo Sugar Clinic is committed to delivering globally benchmarked care to help patients lead healthier, longer lives.”

Chief Guest Dr. Byomkesh Dikshit lauded the initiative, noting that “collaborative, multidisciplinary care models like Apollo Sugar Clinic are essential in tackling the complex challenges of diabetes and its cardiac implications.”

Dr. Somnath Ray Choudhary emphasized the importance of public awareness and early intervention, especially in semi-urban and rural belts. “This clinic has the potential to serve as a model for integrated healthcare delivery in Odisha,” he said.

Apollo Sugar Clinics, a unit of Apollo Health and Lifestyle Ltd, is known for its focus on long-term diabetes management, digital monitoring tools, and patient education programs. With this expansion into Odisha, the network aims to bridge the healthcare gap in eastern India and provide timely interventions for diabetes and related complications.
