Overview
Conjunctivitis also known as Pink eye is an inflammation and infection of the conjunctiva (tissues over the white part of the eye). Bacteria and viruses cause it. Viral conjunctivitis often starts in one eye and then gradually infects the other. School-aged kids are more susceptible due to their close physical contact with other children.
Symptoms

Red or pink color eye

The sensation of a foreign body in the eyes
Treatment
Generally, the infection gets cleared up in 7- 14 days on its own. But, in some severe cases,
- Antibiotic eye drops are used
- Artificial tears
- Antiviral medications
- Stop wearing contact lenses if, you use them.
- Eating foods rich in vitamins A, K, C and B can improve eye health and prevent infection.
- Flush eyes regularly with clean water
